YouTube

YouTube_LogoYouTube is a mecca of video greatness. YouTube provides the world with a variety of video genres. You can find how-to videos, college lectures, movie trailers/ reviews, sports clips, the latest news, or pretty much any video that does not break YouTube’s copyright policy. (Well, that is until YouTube locates the copyrighted content and takes it down.)

YouTube provides a network which can suck you into hours upon hours of viewing pleasure almost in the same manner that Netflix does with it’s binge viewers.

From a marketing standpoint this works in favor of those looking for a place to store their valuable videos and share it with anyone that happens to search for descriptive keywords that are linked to that content. Ever get annoyed with those short ads that are placed on a video that you are wanting to view? That’s a perfect example of businesses as well as individuals making use of YouTube as a marketing/ advertising resource.

There are many competitors/ imitators of YouTube. DailyMotion, Vimeo, or MetaCafe are a few that I can think of off the top of my head.

I have been using and learning YouTube for the past year or so. In the beginning the most difficult thing about using YouTube for me was actually making a video. Having millions of others seeing me on cam was very intimidating. However, once I understood that it will take a bit of time for me to become a mogul on YouTube before anyone would see my content the camera shyness left me. lol Check out my channel here…

If you are looking to begin a channel on YouTube all you need is a Gmail account and you are good to go. YouTube makes it easy to upload videos from your computer or mobile device. Of course with any form of social media… Before you upload it before you want it to be seen. Even with uploading something as either unlisted or private first confirm it’s something you want to share.
