WHAT IS PANDAN LEAF?
Pandan Leaves or Screwpine Leaf, scientific name called “Pandanus Amaryllifolius” is widely grown in Asia region. If you are in America or Europe, you may easily found it in the Asian market.
BENEFITS OF PANDAN LEAF
When we moved in to our new house furnished with imported wood kitchen cabinets, I noticed that there are many small cockroaches (called German Cockroaches) and the standard Asian cockroaches seen crawling in the kitchen cabinets.
Looking at this ewww.. crawling little pest especially in the dark makes me try all kind of cockroach repellent available in the market.
From aerosol spray to water based aerosol spray, then we tried the sticky natural cockroach baits to the powder type.
All of these remedies seem, do not kill the cockroaches or even scare the cockroach away.
Then a relative suggested, why not try to put some Pandan Leaves in cabinets and see How Does The Outcome…
And it was amazing that we noticed that lesser and lesser cockroaches had been seen. After 2 months untill the Pandan Leaves dries out and brittle, there is no more traces of both German and Asian Cockroaches anymore. You can even smell the natural fragrance of Pandan Leaves in the cabinets.
Now, it has been almost 3 years since we move in, we never see any traces of the German cockroaches except twice, I saw the Asian big cockroach crawling on the floor probably came in through our compound.
What I can say that this natural remedy really works…

I noticed during the leaves natural drying process is the time when the natural fragrance of the Pandan Leaves natural aroma makes the cockroaches goes away from the areas. The Pandan Leaves aroma is quite strong and the natural fragrance from the leaves are long lasting.
It seems that the cockroaches do not like the smell of Pandan Leaves.
During the initial stage, we place lots of Pandan Leaves all over the cabinet. But now only one bunch on every compartment.
You may place it in car, as this is another area where cockroaches can feed in any fiber or food traces leaves in the car.
